In April 2016, while sketching in Sheffield’s Tudor Square, Brian Smith was asked by a TV producer who literally just happened to be passing, if he would consider undertaking a painting of the interior of the Crucible arena, laid out for the World Snooker Championship final, and allow himself to be filmed in the process. The result was a cleverly edited piece of film footage cut between the painting of the picture and some memorable Crucible Snooker moments, which was used by the BBC to open their coverage of the final between Mark Selby and Ding Junhui, which Selby went on to win by 18 frames to 14. Here’s a link to that footage
The painting, shown here, later went into print and can be ordered from the artist, printed on an acid free Fine Art paper in an acid free white mount, size 50cm x 40cm o/all and priced at £45.00 plus P & P if applicable, or £75 plus P & P in an attractive black wood-grained frame.
